Last week had far better results than the week before - reading wise. I had a few that fell short of the mark - but overall a fair number of enjoyable reads to share with you today.
Here they are:
Priceless by Shannon Mayer - 4 Stars****
“My name is Rylee and I am a Tracker.”
When children go missing, and the Humans have no leads, I’m
the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I
salvage what they cannot.
I’m on the FBI’s wanted list.
I have a werewolf for a pet, a Witch of a best friend, and
have no need for anyone else in my life.
But when a salvage starts to spin out of control, help comes
from a most unexpected direction. One that is dangerously dark, brooding, and
doesn’t know a thing about the supernatural.
One whose kisses set me on fire.
The Hunt Chronicles Vol 1, Awakening by J D Demers
4 Stars ****
After a contagion engulfs humanity, zombies rise to feast on
the few survivors that are left. But they are not the worst monsters to come
from this plague. There is hope, though. Christian Hunt is immune. But how many
lives will it take to bring his gift to what’s left of mankind?
Getting Out by Ryan Westfield - 4 Stars ****
Do you have what it takes to survive?
The EMP hits. The lights go out and silence roars. Society
is on the brink of violent chaos. The only way to survive is to get out, away
from the cities and into the wilderness.
Max is an office worker with some gear and a plan. He's one
of the first to realize the unspoken dangers. A few years ago, he inherited an
old farmhouse. His plan is to get to it as fast as possible and bunker down. He
thinks he's ready, but he quickly discovers that there's more to surviving than
just having the right gear.
Mandy is a waitress with the day off work. What seems like a
normal power outage quickly turns terrifying. Her peaceful town is no longer
the home she once knew. She's offered a way out, but can she put her trust in a
perfect stranger?
Georgia is a single mother who just wants to keep her two
teenage kids safe. She drives a pickup and loves hunting. She has skills that
could keep her family alive, but is she ready to make life or death decisions
in the blink of an eye?
Do Max, Mandy, and Georgia have what it takes to overcome
the unexpected? After all, even the best-laid plans can come up short.
Four: Rules Undying Book 1 by R E Carr - 3 Stars ***
Finding a job is never easy, and the only employment Gail
usually finds is acting as Girl Friday for the mob. Lucky for Gail, Georgia
Sutherland has just the job for her—that is, if she can handle working nights,
managing a little blood, and a boss who's been dead for centuries.
In a single interview, Gail's world turns upside down as she
discovers that all she’s seen in Hollywood isn’t quite true; vampires don't
combust in sunlight, but they do fall in love.
Are Georgia's stories enough to persuade Gail to take the
gig catering to an antediluvian vampire who's thirsty for a new personal
assistant? If Gail wants to live out the year and retire rich, she just needs
to remember the Four Rules that govern undead society.
My Dead World by Jacqueline Druga - 3 Stars ***
Since childhood, Nila Carter was made to spend every weekend
at the family cabin. In her teenage years she believed it to be a prison. As an
adult it became her sanctuary and means to survive.
When a mysterious outbreak occurs in India, Nila’s brother,
Bobby, a virologist with the CDC, places the family on a precautionary alert to
be ready to bug out. Unlike anything he’s ever seen, the rabies-like virus is
not only deadly but causes extreme violent behavior in anyone who becomes
infected. Following her brother’s advice, Nila begins to stockpile.
After months of preparing, just as it seems the virus is
over, everything implodes and Bobby informs them to leave the city. With her
family, Nila heads to the mountains and to her father’s isolated cabin. There
she is eventually joined by friends and strangers, all hoping to safely stay
clear of the virus that grips the world.
While there, the group forms a tight bond, feeling secure
that they will beat the extinction event and in due course return home. As time
moves on, Nila quickly learns there are things they cannot run from.
That's it. I have several books picked out for next week. Some are new to me authors while others are the second or third in a series that I have already enjoyed. I hope you are reading something wonderful.
Thanks for stopping by,
Michelle
